Honest Men hope to use Kyle
Ayr player/manager Mark Roberts is hoping to use former Kilmarnock and Rangers striker Kevin Kyle as a trialist against Airdrie at Somerset Park.
The 32-year-old joined the Honest Men for training this week and featured in a training game but Adam Hunter will undergo a fitness test ahead of kick off on his hamstring problem.
"We have enjoyed having Kevin around this week and he has enjoyed being amongst the boys," Roberts said.
"The next step is to involve him in some game time and we are hopeful that he will agree to do that against Airdrie as he would give us a terrific option."
Airdrie have released goalkeeper Colin Stewart by mutual consent ahead of their match at Ayr after the briefest of stays at the club with youngster Andrew Duncan set to replace him between the sticks.
The Diamonds are missing Martin Hardie who has an ankle problem and John Boyle continues to be ruled out with a knee problem with Garry Hay playing his last game before he takes up a full time job with the SFA.
Manager Jimmy Boyle said: "We started the season well with wins in both cup competitions but we still need to get started in the league.
"Hopefully we can do that down at Ayr."
