Campbell in fitness race
Ayr's experienced defender Martyn Campbell faces a Saturday lunchtime fitness test ahead of the home clash with Forfar following a calf strain.
But the Honest Men will have Robbie Crawford back in contention after a two-match suspension.
Player/manager Mark Roberts said: "Forfar possess lots of threats due to the size of their players.
"Having Martyn back will help us combat that and the signs are good that he'll play as he put in a hard shift in training on Thursday.
"We've made a good start to the season and getting a good result in this game will keep that good feeling going."
Forfar manager Dick Campbell is planning defensive changes after last weekend's 3-3 draw with Airdrie.
Campbell has plenty of options as Michael Dunlop has completed a suspension and Stuart Malcolm is expected to be fit after a bruised knee.
But Iain Campbell and Mark McCulloch are still suspended, Keith Gibson remains sidelined through injury and Darren Dods, Martyn Fotheringham and Gavin Swankie will all have late fitness tests.
Boss Campbell said: "Ayr had a good win at Arbroath last Saturday, but I've been in the game long enough to know that it's what we do that will determine the outcome."
