Ayr are without long-term injured pair Dean Keenan and Bobby Donnelly while midfielder Alan Trouten is also missing due to suspension.
Dunfermline winger Paul Willis has been added to the squad on loan with both midfielder Ryan McCann and striker Andy Rodgers rated as injury doubts.
Forfar Athletic manager Dick Campbell: "We played well last Saturday against Alloa but were disappointing when we played the same opponents on Tuesday.
"I will make some changes of personnel as a result as Ayr will be going all out for revenge as we beat them 4-1 here back in October.
"It should be remembered that we played really well that day and a repeat of that would be fantastic."
Ayr United manager Brian Reid: "We ended up with nine players (in the 4-1 loss to Forfar) after giving away four penalties that were given by two different referees.
"It ended up being a bit of a farce and we have the chance to put that right in this game."
