Ayr United have announced a series of pre-season friendlies against higher league opposition.
European hopefuls Hibernian have agreed to send a team to play United on Saturday 16th July. The East coasters have completed one of their most successful seasons of recent years and it is the their credit that they are sending a team to Somerset Park. It will also be the foirst time the clubs have met since that historic Leage Cup semi-final in 2002 that took Ayr to their first ever national cup final.
The following Tuesday (19th July) the Paisley Saints will visit the town. St Mirren also had a good season last term finishing third in division 1.
At the end of July Ayr are incolved in a weekend football tournament at Rugby Park Kilmarnock during which the now annual 'West Trophy' will be played for. Ayr United won this trophy against Kilmarnock last season.
This year, however, it will form part of a four team tournament. Although the lineout has not been finalised, it is understood that English club, Brisol City, are also involved.
