Their most historic season now committed to history, Ayr United returned to training on 1st July, and will prepare for the new season with 8 matches before the big kick off on 3rd August. The first team squad head down the Ayrshire coast to play South of Scotland league runners-up Girvan at Hamilton Park on Monday 15th July. Kick is at 7pm and will be the only chance for Ayr fans to see the new look side in action before the Honest Men travel to Northern Ireland. There they play Dungannon Swifts (17th), Glenavon (18th) and Irish European Cup representatives Glentoran (20th) before home fans get the first chance to see the side against Cardiff City at Somerset Park on Tuesday 23rd . Wycombe Wanderers visit Somerset Park 2 days later and Ayr's final home pre-season warm up is at home to Stranraer on Saturday 27th July. A late addition to the scheduled is a match against top junior side Kilwinning Rangers at Abbey Park on July 30th.
The series of friendlies will give United fans an early glimpse of the new youngsters who will carry the hopes and dreams into what we all hope will be a promotion run.
