South Ayrshire Council have not been the best ally's of Ayr United over the last few years vetoeing plans to build a new stadium in the Town on a few occassions.
It was, therefore, no surprise when they blocked United's request to use the council owned dam Park for training purposes.
Howver, at this crisis time for club South Ayrshire Council provided some good news for the Club by allowing them to use the facility for a trial period.
It was Ayr's SNP councillor, Tom Slider, who managed to change the councils mind and work out a trial 'run' for the club.
As a compromise the club have agreed to do their distance running on the track and not on the pitch and use the picthc only for ball work.
Councillor Slider said that he was delighted that the Council were now in a position to make the offer of this trial period.
The Council have also allowed United to use the whole of Dam Park Stadium for their training regime which will protect the pitch from extensive wear and tear. He praised the Council workers for their hard work in repairing the pitch bringing it back to a high standard.
