Season End Squad Changes

Ayr United have confirmed that David Hamilton, currently with Stranraer, has signed a pre-contract agreement and will Ayr United join after the play-offs where Stranraer find themselves in a relegation battle. There are unconfirmed reports that Michael Moore has also agreed to re-join Neil Watt from Stranraer.

Other rumours are that Barry John Corr - goal keeper currently with QOS and
ex-Stranraer) and Steven Swift - right back (currently with Irvine Meadow, but
ex-QOS/Stranraer) are on their way to Somerset Park as is Murray Henderson - centre half (currently with QOS, ex-Stranraer)

Michael Moore has a physical presence up front, which is something that Ayr United
have lacked over the last couple of seasons and this may account for fourteen goals that he scored last season in a very poor Stranraer side. Murray Henderson is a rugged centre-half, again the kind of player that Ayr have been lacking for some time.

Ex Stranraer manager, Neil Watt will know these players and how they are likely to perform and will have won promotion with him previously and so have proven themselves. As an experienced manager Neil knows what he wants and if that means signing players from his former club then at this stage we have to put faith in him. At the very least it is a nice change to see Ayr signing players early rather than waiting until late in the summer to see who of their players re-signs. Usually by that time the better players have already found clubs.

On the current Squad, Craig Pettigrew has signed a new one year deal but Darren Johnston, Ryan Caddis, John McStay and Paul Templeton have been freed. It's a bit of shame for Templeton as he did show promise on occassions during the season and a new manager may have been a help to him.

Chris Robertsonhas signed a new three year deal at the end of last season and Mark McGeown has been offered a deal so its down to a waiting game for his decision.
