Alloa's dismal start to the season continued as they were thrashed 3-1 by a strong Ayr United side.
Against the run of play Alloa took the lead in the 12th minute when Iain Nicolson fired home a free-kick from 25 yards out.
Six minutes later Ayr were back on level terms when Craig Conway collected a defensive clearance, ran across the home defence beating three defenders before beating Gary McGlynn in the Alloa goal with a weak shot.
Ayr kept up their supremacy and extended their lead in the 24th minute when Stewart Kean ran on to a perfect Darren Henderson pass, held off a challenge from Nicolson and beat McGlynn low by his left-hand post.
Alloa made two substitutions at half-time in an attempt to plug the leaks in a poor defence but Ayr's supremacy continued and despite efforts from Stuart Callaghan and Ross Hamilton for Alloa it was Ayr who extended their lead in the 76th minute.
Craig Conway scored Ayr's third and his second of the match when he ran on to a Andrew Ferguson pass to beat the Alloa offside trap and fire home past a helpless McGlynn.
Alloa came close to pulling one back in the 85th minute but Hamilton's shot was turned past the post for a corner by Ludovic Roy in the Ayr goal.
