Peterhead produced an entertaining comeback to wipe out a two-goal deficit and draw 2-2 with Ayr.
Ayr surged into the lead with two penalties inside the opening 30 minutes. The first came after 12 minutes when Stuart Ross fouled Andy Rodgers and Mark Roberts converted, with Stuart Smith fouling Jonathan Tiffoney for the second after 29 minutes, which was also tucked away by Roberts.
Peterhead were fearless after the interval, though, with Graeme Sharp pulling one back after 54 minutes with an 18-yard shot.
The visitors then equalised after 64 minutes as David Ross scored a left-footed effort.
The game nearly turned on its head with Ross and Martin Bavidge having good efforts saved by Ayr keeper David Crawford.
The result sees Ayr stay second and miss out on the chance of going top.
