Ayr United got the better of nine-man Stirling Albion after extra time in the Co-operative Insurance Cup.
Ayr United went to Stirlng's Forthbank Stadium knowing that a win not only kept the cup alive for them but that they would set out their first division credentials for the season.
Stirling Albion opened the scoring on 16 minutes when Stewart Devine clipped the ball under Stephen Grindlay giving Albion a 1-0 half time lead.
United looked better in the second half and William Easton took advantage smashing home the equaliser from long range. Stirling suffered a double blow five minutes later when Andrew Graham picked up a second yellow card in the 66th minute taking the home side to 10 men.
With the score 1-1 at full time United had already done enough to satisfy their manager, but things got even better when Ross Forsyth also received a second booking in extra time taking Stirling down to 9 men.
United took full advantage and Andrew Aitken stabbed home the decisive goal to give Ayr a very weel deserved 2-1 victory.
United can now look forward to a home tie against premier league St Mirren in the next round.
